CanCare is an organization of volunteers concerned
with the welfare of family and friends who have family
diagnosed with cancer. We recognize that cancer has
a devastating effect on the person suffering from it,
but we are also concerned about the far-reaching effect
it has on the immediate family of such a person. Our
main goal is to reach out to the family unit that finds
itself in the midst of this debilitating crisis.
Our
mission is to alleviate the symptoms of the crisis through
practical intervention in the running of the household.
This can be achieved by implementing various tools which
will empower family members and housekeepers to be as
self-sufficient as possible and enable them to step
in and fill a void that has been left as an effect of
the illness.
We
want to prevent a situation where the family unit is
left to pick up the pieces of its shattered functionality
all by itself, whether after the recovery or death of
the cancer patient. We believe that intervention on
a practical level will also limit the sociological and
psychological effect that this illness has on the family
members, thus preserving the overall well-being of the
family unit.
